Nicole Kidman's 1400 Carat Necklace.

An extraordinary rough and polished diamond sautoir necklace designed by L’Wren Scott debuted on the Red Carpet today at the 80th Academy Awards. The spectacular sautoir, worn by Oscar Presenter Nicole Kidman, contains a total of 7645 diamonds including rough, faceted, and polished diamonds, which total nearly 1400 carats.
The sautoir, which was designed by Scott, produced and manufactured by Uni-Design Ltd. in Paris and India uses a wide range of shapes and cuts of diamonds. Each diamond was individually selected by the designer to fit together into an overall design. The intricate design required in excess of 6200 man hours to handcraft. Diamonds have never been used in such a truly unique way on the Red Carpet. It is a tribute to the visionary direction of the designer that such an astounding quantity of diamonds can be worn so effortlessly.

There are people starving in the world. What the f is she doing wearing this bullshit.
The necklace was beautiful. And thank you so much for your lovely, well thought out, articulate and classy response, “Darlene Kenny”.
get over it Darlene..this is the Oscars enjoy it or don’t watch it…..I do hope that these are not “blood diamonds” Having said this it is one of the most beautiful necklaces I have ever seen.
My wife Joo Joo advised me she would like to know what Ms. Kenny has done to be charitable in her life, other than spew venom at those who are more successful than she.
The evening is about The Arts. That is creativity and the recognition of individual expression, not only in film, but in fashion, style, and so forth.
If this is of disdain for Ms. Kenny, with all due respect, what the “f” is she doing following the Oscars.
And that’s my wife Joo Joo’s 2 cents.
Sorry– I just thought it was ugly and gaudy!

Actually I think it’s an exquisite necklace, and the Oscars is indeed about creativity and Expression. Nicole helped design this necklace, as she has done before and truth be told in fact, probably came up the whole essence of the design herself.
Why on earth anyone who knows anything about Nicole would think for a minute that she’d consider conflict diamonds is simply inane.
Its a pity some people have no idea and no taste. As for the plain dress, you really would have to be a tasteless idiot to wear anything but a very plain dress with such a necklace.. the whole focus was the sautoir, she didnt even wear earrings or a bracelet.
Ms.Kenny do you wear clothes, do you eat, of course you do. That computer you are on maybe you should have taken that money and feed some starving kids. The necklace was not for everyday wear. But for the Red Carpet, it worked for Nicole
Nicole always gets attention with her fabulous sense of style and elegance. As far as Nicole’s choice for the Awards Show, it was all about the necklace. True elegance with a uniquely artistic flair. Very Coco Chanel-ish. Would love to see similar necklaces offered in more affordable Swarovski crystals. Just imagine the joy of seeing sparkling rainbows everywhere!
Darlene, she wears it because she CAN. That’s life. There’s rich people and then there’s poor people.
How much do you reckon that would be worth?
It’s too intense a necklace to be worn against black. The black dress almost cheapens it. Nicole usually wears a powdery rose, or flesh-tone, which would’ve been perfect against this amazing necklace. It would look like more a part of her than an accessory.
