Jennie Garth says Helio Castroneves, her fellow contestant on the U.S. competition series “Dancing with the Stars,” broke up with his fiancee months ago.

Castroneves Wednesday confirmed that he and Aliette Vazquez, the business executive he dated for six years, had broken up.

News of the split came one day after the race-car driver and his professional dance partner Julianne Hough were declared the winners of “Dancing with the Stars.”

“Well, actually, that is something that happened a long time ago. It was even something that started before the show premiered,” Garth told TV’s “Inside Edition. “It’s not true the rumor that he just broke it off and it’s because of Julianne.”

Garth emphasized there was no romance between Castroneves and Hough, who is 19.

“There was no romance going on between Helio and Julianne whatsoever,” Garth said. “For everyone to say that now makes me laugh.”

So, what about the pair’s on-air smooch?

“It was part of the routine that kiss and it was hilarious. We were like, ‘Eew, he’s kissing her.’ It was not a big deal. They planned that out,” she said. “When Julianne Hough dances, she can have chemistry with a broomstick.”

Everyone loves Julianne and I can see why… She is absolutely beautiful and she is the most amazing dancer. Does anyone else think her partners have a little bit of an unfair advantage? When Julianne gets on that stage it is hard to pay attention to anything besides her. So is Helio even a good dancer? One thing is for sure, I couldn’t tell you. I guess he must be decent because he doesn’t throw her off but damn, who the heck wants to watch him dance when she is so sexy?

 

It seems that almost every year of Dancing With the Stars prompts some sort of romantic controversy. Last year, Dancing With the Stars runner-up Mario Lopez was romantically linked to his partner, Katrina Signoff. This year, it’s 18-year-old professional dancer Julianne Hough and her Olympic gold medalist partner, Apolo Anton Ohno. Much has been made of the chemistry between the two, and after Monday night’s performance on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars that led to a victory for Apolo Anton Ohno and Julianne Hough, the romantic rumors began to pick up in a big way.

The rumors about Julianne Hough and Apolo Anton Ohno heated up even more when it was reported that Julianne Hough and her fiance, former dancer Zach Wilson, called off their wedding. That only fuelled the speculation that 18-year-old Julianne Hough and 25-year-old Apolo Anton Ohno, who celebrated his 25th birthday on Tuesday, the same day he took home the Dancing With the Stars disco ball, were starting off their own relationship. However, not to burst the bubble of so many Dancing with the Stars fans, but it doesn’t seem as though Julianne Hough and Apolo Anton Ohno are headed for any sort of relationship.

The major reason why Julianne Hough and Apolo Anton Ohno will not live happily ever after is that they are both in relationships, and not with each other. While Apolo Anton Ohno does not discuss his love life in the open, he has nonetheless been dating someone other than his Dancing with the Stars partner. And, on the other side, while Julianne Hough has supposedly called off her wedding, the announcement was nothing more than a scheduling conflict, and the nuptials have merely been pushed back. Julianne Hough told People magazine that, “[Zach and I] are still together. We just want [more time] before we get married. It’s all good!”

For much of this season on Dancing With the Stars, there has been speculation over possible behind-the-scenes hanky-panky between speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno and professional dancer Julianne Hough.

Aside from Hough, 18, calling off her August wedding with fiance, Zack Wilson, 25, nobody has uncovered any actual proof. And Hough and Ohno have denied consistently it.

Deborah Starr Seibel of TVGuide.com interviewed Wilson, a pre-dental student at BYU, who just got back from a month in China, where he had been part of a performing-arts group from the university.

Anyway, here’s an excerpt from the interview:

I’ve heard a lot about that, Wilson said in reference to Hough and Ohno’s chemistry on the dance floor.

Because I’m a dancer I know what performing takes, he says. I’ve been involved in ballroom a lot, so I know there has to be chemistry when you dance together. It doesn’t mean that there’s any romance going on. And I know personally that there’s not, because I’ve been with them in rehearsals and I’ve gotten to know Apolo really well. He’s a really nice guy. So it doesn’t bother me. If I didn’t know her and I was watching the show, I would think that they were in love, he says. But I do know her and they’re not. They’re just good friends.
